FYI: For really hard to find death certificates, if you do know the name, place, and date, go old school, look up the death of the person at:

http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt?open=514&objID=1085804&mode=2


Once you have the death certificate number you can browse and find the record by the year, and number of the certificate. Yes, I have had to do this with several as the names were totally misspelled, and were not coming up in any search even with wildcards! Click on the year, and scroll to the matching number of your certificate you are searching for.

For standard searches: Be creative in the ways you search, be open to all kinds of variations on spelling of names, try different combinations of information, and you may find more death certificates.
